May 15, 2013 – Accessibility Metadata Speaking at Learning Impact. Gerardo Capiel from Benetech will be speaking at 9:30 AM in the “K-12: Evolving IT and Curriculum to Enable Next Generation Personalized Learning Program Track” on Wednesday morning. He will be describing the effort underway to improve the discoverability of accessible learning resources, where Bookshare is leading a group to implement Schema.org markup derived from IMS Access For All. Search engines including Bing, Google, Yahoo! and Yandex rely on Schema.org markup to improve the display of search results. Schema.org also includes LRMI metadata, thus educators and students will be able to more easily discover learning resources tailored to their educational goals and disability-specific needs. Gerardo will describe the current state of the effort and the vision of what discoverable accessible resources on the web will bring.
